On the 10th of October 2024, I was expecting a visit from Berlin with some excitement; somehow, I knew that this visitor would bring interesting news. Her name is Liliana. She first came with a friend to our Airbnb for a brief stay last May. Regardless of her short visit, we connected immediately—one of those magical moments.
Around that time, I was working on updating my portfolio. I started looking for a new name that represents what I am about. The criteria were a name that is easy to pronounce in different languages, relatively short, and available as a domain name. “Thread Portals” has been my artistic name for over a decade, but I felt it was time for a change.
After deliberating on different names I couldn’t find strong candidates, so I began looking at combinations of letters and numbers to define myself. In numerology, my name translates to 276 and my birthday to 33; in both cases, my astral number is 6.
By adding 276 and 33—the numbers from my name and birthday—the result is 309. I was also attached to “Thread Portals” and its meaning, so I took “Portal” as a gateway from past through present toward the future.
EUREKA! I was happy with the result. Portal309.com was born as a gateway to my new self.
I openly discussed my research with Liliana and the meaning of Portal309; she showed great interest in my numerology story as she has astrology knowledge. She left, and we have kept in touch since. She planned to return for a longer stay in the following autumm.
After spending a hot summer in Spain, I desired to return to Edinburgh to cool down and reconnect with pending projects such as writing this blog and creating an online store—tasks I had been postponing since I left.
I knew the latest date to be back in Edinburgh was the 9th of October to receive my guest Liliana. She arrived on a radiant and sunny autumn day. Welcoming her felt like receiving an old friend; she brought light and valuable advice that I was ready to receive while catching up about the summer.
In the following days, during early mornings, we had conversations on various subjects—from how to make a wish come true by feeling it as if we were already living it, to the importance of organic food for nourishing our bodies and building a healthy immune system, among other topics. I also discussed starting a blog and my determination despite feeling that words are not my comfortable medium of expression; gathering all my ideas and articulating them fluidly is challenging. However, I strongly believe that by doing so, I would develop skills over time.
While staying in Madrid at my parents, I found old files saved on a CD labelled “emails 2003 backup.” As I carefully looked through the files, I rediscovered stories I had almost forgotten—the energy, excitement, and naivety of a young man starting his life journey made me feel like reuniting with someone from my past. A door—a ‘portal’—to my younger self had opened. Liliana listened carefully to my story and remarked, “You were inspired by your younger self“. At that instant, I knew the title for my blog had been kindly given to me.
This inspiration landed me on the path to rescue those old ideas from the past into the present and bring all these stories together. So here I am, writing about how someone can provide inspiration and encouragement for the first story or blog post—followed by many more—hoping that you will enjoy them.
The rebranding of Portal309 was driven by the desire for a fresh identity that better reflects my artistic vision and personal growth. After over a decade using the name “Thread Portals,” it was time for a change that would resonate more with current projects and aspirations.
The new name, Portal309, symbolises a gateway from the past through present toward the future.
Portal 309 aimed to create a platform that showcases unique artworks, projects, and thoughts, ultimately fostering a deeper connection with the audience.
