WOW
World Of Wearable Art
The WOW Awards Show is a world-renowned creative competition that challenges artists to create original, innovative, and exceptional pieces of wearable art. Established in 1987, the competition has been running for over 30 years and showcases the work of some of the most creative minds from around the globe. The event culminates in a spectacular theatrical production held annually in Wellington, drawing audiences of over 60,000 people.
I won 2nd Prize in the Reflective Surfaces category at the WOW Awards Show in 2018 with my entry titled Hilandera. The garment was inspired by Velázquez’s masterpiece Las Hilanderas (“The Spinners”), which depicts the mortal Arachne challenged by the goddess Athena to a weaving competition, symbolizing creativity and skill. This piece represents a contemporary interpretation of that timeless tale within the WOW artistic context.
